We’ve been working with Eleanor Prior (AKA @TheLVTweetUP) for some time about her AMAZING idea for a 4sqday event. As you can tell she is passionate about food, passionate about Las Vegas, and passionate about social media, so we thought it would be best if she told the story in her own words. Makes us wish we were going to be in Las Vegas on April 16th!!

This year The Las Vegas Tweetup wanted to focus on helping small business via Tweetups. Being that I love to eat, and the Foodtrucks being the new phenomena to hit the streets here in Vegas it just made perfect sense to team up with them for Foursquare Day! This year I wanted The Las Vegas Tweetup to be a little more community minded and raise awareness about the fabulous small businesses and non profits we have in our valley. So I was thrilled when Christopher Palmeri of @nakedcitylv who Jolene Mannina of @sloppijos gave him my info and he contacted me! I love it when business owners get that Twitter is a force to be reckoned with.

A couple of years ago I met Monique Harris of @Children1stNV (she’s still adjusting to “The Twitter” couldn’t resist the Betty White) and when was enlightened to what @Children1stNV does as a mother who has 4 girls (don’t gasp you guys know we have 5 kids between us aka blended) I started thinking what if, what if one of my girls found themselves in this position (not that I haven’t tried to install the fear of me in them like my Mom did to me, feisty little mexican, or teach them right from wrong aka abstinence) where would they turn?

Did you know that on any given day there are over 300 unaccompanied homeless youth, in Clark County alone. Let your mind do the wandering . . .

In this video of Monique Harris from Southern Nevada Children First being interviewed by Mary Marriott of @JustAskMary and @TheAttitudeofMoney on their “Grattitude Attitude” you will learn about these children with children. No one can paint the picture like Monique, if your a parent like me you’ll see why this tweetup is a must attend event!

Bright Light City Is Gonna Set This Tweetup On Fire!

4th Annual #MashableAwards at New York New York

@Mashable Set our Bright Light City On Fire with their 4th annual #MashableAwards! I got to attend via a press pass from @Mashable and the @Zappos team adopted me for the evening, thank you @Migpascual and @ZapposInsights.

The night started when they opened the doors we where greeted with a photographer who took mine and @Migpascual ‘s photo we fell behind the rest of the group for a moment. Then there was an open bar and yummy fried Macaroni cheese balls with a spicy cheese to dip into that danced on our taste buds.

We where entertained by the DJ set from Eclectic Method, with videos bites and edits from The Sound of Music Do Re Me, to Dee Lite’s Groove is in the Heart and appearances from the Simpsons.

My throat is sore from screaming… @Baratunde was a great host for the evening he entertained us all night long. Pete Cashmore of Mashable is so Adorkable (I so stoled @kristlinas ‘s word adorkable) no other man could miss a step down and still be so Adorkable.

Here is one of the laughable quotes from @Baratunde “Apple is dreaming of new ways to take your money.”

There was only one disappointment of the evening, and that was that @Twitter was not there to accept their award for “Break Through Website Design.” The crowd proceeded to shout out @FailWhale…

@Foursquare won for the Best Location Based Service! “Foursquare, the mobile location-based service, had a year of tremendous growth that paved the way for other location-based services, including Facebook Places.” – @Mashable

Congratulations @Hootsuite for Best Social Media Management Tool. Angry Birds received the award for “Best Mobile Game” and the Gentlemen in front of me caught one of the flying angry birds that flew into the audience.

Now on to Android! I am an Android and love my #EVO yet I hate the battery! It died shortly after I took this video.

On January 12, 2011 you will have the opportunity to attend Social Media Marketing Las Vegas and receive social media marketing tips, tools and techniques.

I had the chance to talk with Eric Peterson and David Koloski this morning, thank you guys for taking time to talk this morning. They are two of Las Vegas’s active Social Media Marketing participants and will be featured speakers at #SMLasVegas. One thing David mentioned that I agree with whole heartedly is: “No one is a social media expert!” Social Media Marketing is an insatiable little beast and requires it’s participants to continually educate themselves.

Eric and David shared valuable tips, insights, and a few of their secrets to successfully using social media marketing at 10 properties here in Las Vegas. Yes I did say 10, they manage 10 properties meaning 10 Twitter profiles, 10 Facebook Pages, I thought my head was spinning just managing my two identities @VAGirlFriday and @TheLVTweetup.

Social Media Marketing Las Vegas is a one-day event that will be held at the Flamingo Hotel. It’s not everyday that you can be schooled by a team of renowned marketing experts who will provide guidance on how to effectively engage with customers via social media. Adam Dukes aka @Adukes21 decided after 25 yrs of gray skies and snow in April, I left Detroit to relocate to Las Vegas. He is a writer, dreamer, thinker, laugher, reader, hustler, and he’s funny too.

We had been tweeting back in forth between each other for a while and finally met in person at #Sweet2Tweet Tweetup hosted by @TasteMGMGrand and co-hosted by yours truly.

Adam has been tweeting at @JimmyKimmel and has a website TweetstoKimmel, his goal is to get on Jimmy Kimmel. He has been tweeting to @JimmyKimmel about 8 times a day so far the Tweets are one sided. So I decided to help him out check out the Animoto vid below!

The Las Vegas Tweetup and BlogWorld 2009

@ManyaS enjoying a cupcake from @RetroBakery during the Official Kickoff Tweetup of BlogWorld 2009.

@RobertGaines took alot of great pictures so I created an Animoto video to show you what you missed last year.
